Hole 1

Our beautiful opening hole requires one of the most accurate tee shots at Royal Norwich. Your eyes can easily be distracted by the right hand side of the hole and the stunning copper beach tree. However the perfect tee shot will finish just short of the left hand fairway bunker.

Hole 2

A classic Ross McMurray hole and the first example of where you must pay attention to the pin location. The large run-offs mean short siding yourself with your approach will ensure an extremely challenging second shot, especially when missing the green to the left.

Hole 3

Fire away! One of the most inviting tee shots on the course! The generous fairway of our 3rd hole allows you to open your shoulders and go for that big drive. This stunning, sweeping, dog-leg par 5 is always a memorable one for any golfer.

Hole 4

This testing par 3 is all about position. Again, you must pay attention to the pin location and avoid short siding your approach. It’s never a bad option to play for the middle of the green.

Hole 5

The first of our very testing par four holes might indicate if you need to play from a different set of our 5 options of tees. If the 5th hole feels more like a par 5 you might want to consider moving forward!

Hole 6

Another tee shot which is crying out to be hit with the driver. The open feel of this hole disguises a tactical choice. The further right you position your tee shot, the shorter the hole plays - but this choice brings the deep fairway bunkers into play.

Hole 7

One of the longest par fives on the course also features one of the smallest greens. Avoiding the large oak tree and fairway bunker along the right side of the 7th are key to successfully playing this hole.

Hole 8

Enjoy! No matter your success or failure playing our 8th, always stop to enjoy the scenery of our 400 year old parkland, which is encapsulated on this hole. Keep your approach shot to the right side of the green and the undulations will feed the ball to the pin.

Hole 9

A great example of the rolling fairways, which are a feature of our Ross Mcmurray designed course. A good knowledge of playing from sloping lies will certainly help you on this hole. After holing out, enjoy the halfway house to the left of the 9th green.

Hole 10

After refreshments at the half way house hopefully you’re ready to take on the 10th. Long hitters need to be aware of laying back a little as a ball positioned too far down the right side of this hole will result in being blocked out for the shot to the green.

Hole 11

Another extremely testing par 3 at Royal Norwich. Missing short or long of this green is much more preferable than a miss wide. Birdies are very rare indeed on the 11th.

Hole 12

The longest hole on the course from the gold tees! With 150 yards between the front and back tees the 12th can be a monster or a walk in the park...you choose. The rolling fairways often remind guests of a classic links course. Take time to enjoy the scenery.

Hole 13

You are now facing two of the shortest yet, tactically, most demanding holes on the course. The 13th fairway looks enormous and nearly impossible to miss. However, play your tee shot down the left and it's likely you will not have a clear shot to the largest green on the course. Aim to the right of the large fairway trap.

Hole 14

The big hitters may attempt to drive this green. However, the run offs have to be played several times to be fully respected. Missing this green in any place other than just short will leave an exceptionally difficult up and down. Many cards have been ruined around this green!

Hole 15

One of our defining holes. What a par four! As well as being one of the longest par fours on the course, the 15th also tends to play longer than its yardage. The sloping fairway helps the player's tee shot to find the right side of this hole, which gives the best line into the green.

Hole 16

Club selection from the tee can be crucial here. One of the tightest tee shots also requires a tee shot of an optimum distance. Too short or long from the tee will result in a blocked line to the small green.

  • Gold
  • 164 yards
  • Par 3
  • Navy

  • Silver

  • Black

  • Bronze

Hole 17

Enjoy every minute of playing our beautiful signature hole. Ian Poulter hit his tee shot to 20 feet. Remember the 17th plays every inch of its yardage and taking one club more is often a wise choice.

  • Gold
  • 531 yards
  • Par 5
  • Navy

Hole 18

Stables bound! This long par 5 is a great test to finish with. A straight tee shot is a must. The large tree short and left of the green is a beauty, but any ball finishing behind it will block the line to the green. Enjoy the walk up the 18th and into The Stables, relax, unwind and treat yourself to some locally sourced food and refreshment.
